My involvement with the EarthWatch (EW) Organization has spanned 24 years, and in my opinion, is the most fulfilling and effective way to do outreach for the general public. The goal of EW is to give individuals from all walks of life the opportunity to participate in scientific projects. Not only do the volunteers perform experiments, they also get to meet real scientists and become familiar with the scientific process. The most rewarding teams that I coordinate are the high school female teams. Getting young ladies excited about doing science and helping them prepare for college is an incredible experience.
